On Saturday 15th May Christ the Worker church hosted an afternoon tea in celebration of Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday. Almost 60 people attended and enjoyed a tea of finger sandwiches, home-made cakes and scones with cream and jam, washed down by copious amounts of tea served by Rev. Colin Hartley.

A wonderful celebration cake was cut to the sound of everybody singing the National Anthem. Thanks to everyone who attended and helped during the afternoon.

On Sunday 5th June there was a Celebration Service at 6pm at St Mary’s Church. The church bells were rung and the service consisted of some of the Queen’s favourite hymns and readings. It also included a tribute to the Queen and an interview with Ruby Trotter about the Blind Club to exemplify service to the community.

This was followed by a 'Champagne' Reception outside the church and around 80 people attended.
